Abbey Glen are proud to be one of the first and remaining independent laundries in the UK. Since the 1890’s we have aimed to make linen and workwear easier for our customers and continue to do that today, by providing a good service at a good price. We are a similar business in ethos to the one in the 1890’s, we are just much more modern in our approach after heavy investment in equipment and staff.

We value the relationships that we have with our customers and see them more as partnerships rather than a ‘customer / supplier’ one. We look to develop long term relationships and nothing is too difficult. Our staff are available 24/7 and a genuine commitment to customer service has been at the heart of our business since the 1890’s.

After three years in the planning and design process Abbey Glen Ltd are proud to be finally moving into their new purpose-built multi discipline super laundry in Sheffield, South Yorkshire. Having outgrown their current premises in nearby Doncaster, the new site will give much needed additional capacity for both linen and workwear services. It is envisaged that when at full capacity, the site will produce in excess of one million linen items per week along with 50,000 cleanroom workwear garments.

The new site has been designed to be one of the most energy efficient sites in the country, in line with our environmental policy to constantly review and decrease our emissions per item processed. We look forward to welcoming both customers and suppliers alike to our new premises in the coming months to positively promote our large scale long term investment.

County Linen and indeed the more family business roots date back across eight generations to 1815.

The Coggeshall and Kelvedon District Laundry was born following the First World War, the operation and business expanded over the following century from the domestic market to include contract laundering and dry cleaning.

From this point in the 1960’s we were one of the earliest pioneers of the linen rental concept.

Today we operate two well equipped modern diverse plants in Chelmsford, producing over a million pieces a week. Serving some 1200 customers within the hospitality and workwear sector, covering Greater London, South East, and East of England.

We are supported by a long-standing loyal workforce and proud of our reputation for quality and service.

Originally founded in Cambridge in 1904, family and heritage are at the heart of Swiss Laundry. A third-generation business, the Turvill Family have led the company for over 90 years, growing the business organically from the original site in Cambridge and then through acquisition in 2004 of Great Yarmouth based Camplings Linen. Specialising in commercial linen hire, workwear, dry cleaning, and contract laundry services, predominantly servicing the hospitality sector across East Anglia and the Midlands.

The business has strong growth ambitions, and over the last six years has invested significantly in their operations, building a new state of the art facility in Great Yarmouth in 2016, and then relocating the Cambridge operations to a purpose built site west of Papworth late 2019. This has doubled capacity to enable up to 500,000 pieces of linen to be processed every week at each site, but also demonstrates the company’s commitment to innovation and protecting the environment, by being two of the most technically advanced and environmentally responsible laundries in Europe.
